Valentine's Day isn't just for lovers.  It's also a day to celebrate the love you have for all the amazing females in your life.  So, if you're wondering what to do differently this Valentine's Day, why not try spending it by showering them with some extra love and attention?  We've listed our top 5 tried-and-true ways to spend the day and make it truly meaningful.

1. Spend quality time with your SHERO

There's always that one person in your life that you're forever indebted to. That could be your mom, grandma, aunt, sister or anyone else that has worked hard to raise you to be the person you are today.  Whoever it may be, it's important to show them how much you care and appreciate all that they've done and/or still do for you.  Whether you cook a candlelit dinner for just the two of you, set up a spa date night at the house, or have a movie marathon night with popcorn and champagne, it's a great bonding opportunity and a chance to show your love and appreciation to those who deserve it the most.

2. Send thoughtful Galentine snail mails

Who doesn't like receiving cute and thoughtful mails the old fashioned way? As much as we all appreciate e-mail technology, it's always nice to send and receive a beautifully handwritten card from time to time.  If you're feeling extra crafty, you can create and send out personalized parcels that are filled with sweet little treats (e.g., heart-shaped chocolates, lip balms) to surprise the favorite gals in your life.  It's a fun and meaningful way to show that you're thinking of them!

3. Serve others in the community

Valentine's Day is much more than just fancy dinners, red roses, and conversation hearts.  It's a day for showing love and giving back to others.  One way to celebrate Valentine's Day differently this year is to volunteer for a good cause with a few of your girlfriends.  Whether you volunteer at your local animal shelter or reach out to those in need in the community, you'll create a lasting impact in the lives of those who are in need of love the most.

4. Host a bonfire night with your female besties

Forget the fancy Valentine's parties and keep it super low-key by hosting your own intimate bonfire night with a few of your female besties.  It's a fun activity that's easy to plan and can be set up right in the comfort of your own backyard.  It's the perfect venue to play campfire games, roast hotdogs, make smores and sip on delicious homemade hot cocoa.  So bring out the warm fuzzy blankets and comfy lawn chairs; it'll be a long, cozy and memorable night with your best friends.

5. Go glamping

Escape all of the Valentine's Day shenanigans and camp with style this year with someone you want to bond with, like your mom, sister, best friend or all three!  It's the perfect opportunity to experience the outdoors without having to sacrifice life's little luxuries.  So instead of wondering what to do this Valentine's, try something different by immersing yourself in nature for a day or two.  Not only will you get some much-needed rest and relaxation, but you'll also be able to make special memories that will last a lifetime.

Life is all about sharing moments with the ones you love.  Despite all of life's demands and hectic schedules, it's important to spend time, bond, and reconnect with all the wonderful ladies in your life.  After all, life is short.  We should make a conscious effort to create more lasting memories with those that matter the most to us, regardless if it's Valentine's Day or not.  Do you have a favorite Galentine's activity that you'd like to share?  We'd love to know in the comments!
